Joe Coombes joined Tutors United in April 2025, taking on the role of Finance and Governance Officer at our charity. Joe has an extensive background working in higher education having previously been employed at Liverpool Hope University and Liverpool John Moores University.

Graduating from Sheffield Hallam University, Joe has worked as a Sport Development Officer, Sport Centre Manager and Operations Manager across different sectors. Within each role Joe has undertaken responsibility in finance, compliance, safeguarding, health and safety, working with local authority councils, international sport providers, Sport England, and national governing bodies of sport including the Football Association.

Joe currently lives in Liverpool with his wife and two children (and two cats). Outside of work Joe acts a parent governor, volunteers for Nacoa UK, and plays many sports while supporting his home town club, Tranmere Rovers.
